The Book For Birmingham
What’s the best book you’ve ever read?
Books that haunted you with joy or dread
Books that have captured your inner eye
Made you giggle or made you cry
From opposite ends of emotional space
A book you’d recommend to a mate
Please, please take a minute or two
To tell us the books that have done it for you!

To celebrate the National Year of Reading, Birmingham Libraries want to capture the city’s reading choices and ultimately find The Book for Birmingham. To get involved, we are asking readers across the city to nominate a book in one of the following categories:
- Book That Made Me Laugh
- Book That Made Me Cry
- Book I’d Recommend to A Friend
Readers can nominate a book in any one of the above categories either by completing one of the flyers that can be picked up across the city's library network or by going online to http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/b4b A selection of nominated books will go online and then readers will be able to go online from 1st September to vote for their favourite book. The final winner will be announced in October during the Birmingham Book Festival.
