Dads and Lads and Poetry!

Birmingham Libraries Youth Development worker, along with Weoley Castle Community library and Birmingham Poet Laureate 2006/7 Giovanni (Spoz) Esposito have been working in a mainly white working class area of Birmingham to create CDs that contain poems and/or football chants written by Dads with their children.

After a couple of sessions working with the group, the completed chant is set to music and backed with images chosen by the dads and lads. The CD's are then produced for the contributors to take home.

This work built on the incredibly successful and moving project "Tales to be told" where inmates of HM Prison Birmingham created CDs to send out to try to keep in touch with the children in their lives.
