Birmingham: Visually Impaired Reviewers
Visually Impaired Reviewers in Birmingham
A group of visually impaired children and young people are involved in a project using the "playaways" list from W F Howes. The group select their own titles, they then have time to review the chosen stories, evaluate the format and comment on the suitability of the reader. After the titles have been selected and reviewed the group then make a recording/ or podcast of their reactions to be put on the libraries website. (With the aim of conferencing with other readers).
The city is home to a large outdoor screen and we hope to broadcast some of the reviews on the Big Screen during October. All the children and young people involved in the project will keep the "playaways" as a thank you for the contribution they made to the project.
